Blew Me AWAYYY!!!!!!
(3 of 3 liked this review)
I do audio and video processing and editing, usually on a 5 year old, yet still quite functional bloated-in-size tower computer with tons of RAM. And when on the road, I have used a specially configured Toshiba A-35 laptop.
Came the time for my partner to go back to school, needing a laptop. Cleaned up the Toshiba and away it went with her leaving me lacking a 'road' computer.
Enter the Acer Aspire One. Thought I'd try a netbook, and honestly, the first one I bought (Not an Acer and NOT at Amazon) was true crap and cheaply made. It was shipped back the next day. But I had read the reviews on the Acer and some friends in Phoenix and Seattle praised their netbooks they got through AT&T, so what the hell, I'll try one.
In short, it blew me away with it's power, functionality and options!!! The little thing does literally EVERYTHING not only the Toshiba laptop cound do, but literally runs circles around my Production Computer in my studios!
I run the Adobe Production Suite, Audacity, and Cyberlink along with various other apps as well as Microsoft Office 2003 with no issues at all.
Running 2GB RAM.
The 160GB HDD is a good size (I archive to a 500GB external), video is good, and I use external speakers as most laptop/netbook speakers are less than perfect. I appreciate the touch sensitive Synaptics options of +/-, one touch scroll and the sort as well as the rated 6.5 hour battery (I've been getting over 7 hours without the wireless on).
I highly recommend this wonderful little netbook!
Buy it through Amazon - I did and as always, Excellent Customer Service!!!
Just what I needed!
I purchased the Aspire One D250-1610 because of the good reviews on this site and I have not been disappointed. I needed a netbook solely for connectivity....as an extra link to the Internet at home when all the desktops were in use by the kids, or as a way to check my e-mail when traveling, and this little beauty does everything quickly and easily. I was amazed how simple the setup was, and the netbook immediately recognized my home network. The connection is very fast.
I've only had the Aspire for 4 days, but I love it already! It's a great netbook for the price you pay!
Processor a little slow

Although this unit is priced right, the processing speed is a little slow. I have 2 other computers on my wireless network that run much faster than this unit.
What is a title?
The computer works as advertised. Keep in mind it's a netbook and not an Apple or PC. At one sixth the cost, I feel you get 1/2 of the performance of a conventional computer.
Aspire One 10.1

Great little netbook. Fast, lightweight, competetive pricing. Two things I'd like to see improved - the keyboard is cramped and causes a lot of typos. Other models have better spaced keys and a larger touchpad. Also, it comes pre-bundled with McAfee AV which really slows the OS. I removed it and installed a better AV which doesn't impact performance.
Review Acer Aspire One D250
I'm so happy with this netbook, the few days that I've been using it, I have not disappointed.

Love it...
I am new to laptop computers. I just got the Aspire one D250-1990 by Acer. It charged up very nicely. Seems to work just fine. Battery life is good. Just don't plan plugging a external CD/DVD RW in and expect the battery life to last a long time. I got the Asus SDRW-08D1S-U USB external drive also. It pairs up and looks nice together. I haven't used the burning feature yet, so I can't say much about it at this time. I am using the Cyberlink software that come with the drive. I am used to Nero for all my other computers. I also updated the ram memory to 2GB. Not sure it is needed. Installing software went in fine I don't like Microsoft Works at all. I have a old copy of Microsoft 2000 Office Pro that I put on the Aspire. Works great. A disadvantage I found was when I tried to put a older copy of Adobe CS2 on the machine. I got a message saying that the Video card and monitor wasn't sufficient for CS2. Lucky I had a older copy of CS and it went in Ok and works well This isn't a big time graphics computer. So don't think it is. It will work great for what it is intended for. It came with Windows Xp Home. I didn't want all the little Lite software that comes with it already installed.
Please don't take the following the wrong way. I went to my local computer shop to buy this one. Only reason was, if I had a lot of problems, I had someone local to fall back on. Amazon is a class act. I have used them for years and had no complaints with them. Just a little hesitant this time for the first time around.
The only con is the small size of the screen. I use a 24 inch wide screen on my other computers. Just not used to the small size. You can change the type size on the internet, and it works well on that. I hope you like it as much as I do.
