Screen is a mirror

The screen is so shiny that you have to get into odd angles if there is any background light: the thing is almost like a mirror. Why not matte?
So even though it seems to work OK, what's the point if ya can't see the screen easily?
Outstanding Netbook - Exceeds all expectations!

Yes to every expectation and exceeds every expectation! Ideal for work and travel. I have Microsoft Office 2003 and XP...full compatibility. I have upgraded the ram ( $27!) and that was very easy also!
No negatives, but the smooth, black plastic surface will require routine cleaning & wiping...
Great piece of machinery and convenient, too!
Definitely invest this netbook. It is one of, if not the best reviewed netbook out there. It works smoothly and it's great for travel. Plus, the 10.5-hour battery makes it even more convenient. You can't go wrong with this.
So far, so good

After just 2 weeks, I like this netbook, 1005HA-P version. The only complaint so far: glossy screen is annoying. Wish they used matte. The glossy cover also results in many fingerprints. But it is as fast as one would expect surfing the internet, reading emails, playing videos. Under 3 pounds so half the weight of my laptop, making it easier to carry when traveling.
Everything is great, except for the two small holes.

The Asus EEE PC is very portable because it is very light and it has an amazing battery life. I never carry the charger around because of the long battery life. I just have to charge it once a day. The keyboard is not small as it may seem, it is very easy to type on. Unlike my previous computers, the ASUS EEE PC starts up and shuts down very quickly. The touchpad works pretty well. However, I found the keys to be a little hard to push on.
I would have given this review five stars if it wasn't for the two small annoying holes (about the width of a staple) next to the Asus logo on top of the laptop lid.
great little netbook

just got my 1005ha today and it's the coolest thing I've picked up in a while. I had no trouble upgrading to the 2gb ram and it was a breeze to set up. My initial impressions are all good and I'm crossing my fingers that no trouble pops up. I also got the external dvd writer, but haven't had the chance to use that yet.
Love my Netbook!

From a person with very simplistic knowledge of computers, I wanted to add my comments because I rely so heavily on comments when making decisions on items to purchase. After all of the reviews I knew that this was the netbook for me. However, SAM's club only had the Acer D250 and it was cheaper, so I tried it for about 3 days. No major complaints, but felt like I married the wrong guy. I took it back and purchased this one. I could not be happier! I use the computer for writing (working on a big written project) and for browsing the internet, checking e-mail, and uploading pics of my children. I love this little thing so much, especially the fact that I don't have to plug in all day! That's the absolute greatest feature. However, there are other great features, including the keyboard, the general look, the speed of the machine on and off line, touchpad is okay-even better if you keep the plastic on it that covers it when you open the box, the weight is perfect. I'm so pleased that I chose this one and thanks to all of you who contribute your opinions and your knowledge. It's extremely helpful!!! YAY!!!
