Decent product, Dell is woeful

Recently purchased a Dell Alienware M17 configured very similarly to this one. While the computer itself has a lot of bells and whistles, Dell as a company supporting their products, leaves a lot to be desired. I've bought my last 4 computers from Dell over the past 6 years. The process has become so painful I will not buy another. Computers and software continue to have issues, especially when a new Windows comes out such as Windows 7. Think about this; buying a computer online leaves the consumer isolated when it comes to customer and technical support. One must be able to access support easily and efficiently to fix problems. Dell has lost this ability.
Ordering the computer through their website didn't work so I had to call Customer Service. Literally DAYS later, I was able to place my order. I spent 3 hours on the phone initially trying to make an order only to find, the next time I called, the order didn't exist. Call the number, wait on hold, speak to an operator, wait on hold, speak to a cust serv rep, wait on hold; this takes hours.
Got called back a few days later requesting additional verification information, w/o which the order could not be placed. Spent two hours on the phone with that one.
Got called again the next day for the EXACT same information for the same reason. Apparently the information from the previous day didn't make it into the system. Another two hours on the phone.
The computer arrives; the M17's speaker lights are unevenly lit; Windows didn't start automatically when starting the computer; The keyboard backlights stopped working. All of this on the first day.
Call Dell, the first try I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone going from line to line, verifying missing information within the Dell system, ended up getting cut off.
Call Dell back, spent 4 hours on the phone, reverifying service information, waiting on hold, then finally talking to tech support. Two of the issues were fixed, waiting for a technician to come to my home to replace the lights.
THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT PURCHASING A COMPUTER FROM DELL IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT NEED CUSTOMER AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT! These types of complains are all over the web but I ignored them because I was seduced by the bells and whistles of the M17! The only reason I stuck with this is my son, who plays games, loves the computer.
Best Notebook in its Class A++

If you want the absolute best Gaming and CAD notebook available on the market today, the Dell Alienware M17x is the way to go. It outperforms any current notebook today hands down. Yes you are paying for the Alienware name and case, but it is well build and has a solid feel with all the bells and whistles. If you look online at the 3d Mark results, you will see the Quad Core 2 QX9300 with Dual 280M Video Cards is consistently getting the fastest graphic scores of any notebook on the market today. The price is also very resonalble compaired to similar MAC offerings or Business Class notebooks. A new dual core MacBook Pro loaded will cost you around $4500.00. This on the other hand is $1000.00 less for twice the processing and video power.
