This HP All-In-One Has Issues

After upgrading to a new desktop recently, I was informed by my in home tech that my good ole reliable 9 year old HP Inkjet 842C printer was not compatible with my new HP computer system running the dreaded Vista. I was devastated! I've had my Inkjet 842C since April 2000 when I purchased my first home computer and it lasted through my first and second home cumputer purchases and I NEVER had one problem whatsoever. It worked for 9 years and I used it everyday. This HP All in One Officejet J4680 is absolutely horrible. First off, the ink cartridges that came with the system are small and therefore will run out quickly if you have high volume printer needs, the only saving grace is that the price of the cartridges is considerably less than the Deskjet 842C Black/Tri Color cartridges, which ran anywhere between $35.99 and $38.99 a piece, however those cartridges lasted much longer than this model's cartridges. Seceondly, it took me nearly 1/2 an hour to figure out how to install the cartridges! The diagram picture on the panel door didn't help me one iota. I felt like a total nimrod and got so frustrated I just walked away. Putting the cartridges in was not an easy task at all. I felt like I had to force both cartridges in and then hope that I didn't break something. This is not good. I want ease when I'm replacing a cartridge because chances are it would be during a time when I need to get something printed that I find out I'm out of ink, so I want simplicity not a struggle. The ole faithful machine was a breeze. Lift the lid, flip the guard, remove old cartridge, insert new cartridge, close the guard and close the lid. Just that simple. Thirdly, every single time I need to print something there's a problem. I'm not kidding. EVERY SINGLE TIME. The message box says "Out of Paper", I look at the machine and it has plenty of paper so I adjust the paper so that it's securely in the printer shaft and then I press a button to restart the printing and then nothing happens. I wait and then the printer gets back on track. This happens everytime. I have the printer on a shelf above my desk and I don't move it or shake it or give it the stink eye or anything, it just doesn't work when I need it. Finally, I have tried unsuccessfully to send a fax and haven't a clue as to what I'm doing wrong so I just give up for now. I'm going to let HP know about this problem directly as I have an account with them and they gave me a great price on this All in One Officejet J4680 for buying a computer directly from them with lots of ammenities and do hickeys that made my purchase very nice. If you want an All in One system, try a different, more expensive model and perhaps the problems I've mentioned won't be the same. I have to get rid of this system because it doesn't do what I need it to do consistently and I have high volume printing needs that aren't being met.
